San Sebastian

We are hanging out for our last day prior to Pamplona in a small Basque beach town, San Sebastian. We arrived last night a little road weary. However, sleep is for the weak and the boring! So, we went out on the town to have some drinks and make some more friends. Of course, we ignored one of the main rules of international travel: avoid Germans. Yeah, we've done this twice now. Now, I say this without any insult to Germans. It's just that when Americans and Germans get together, chaos always occurs. We were just going to have one beer and some tapas, then get something to eat. That's it. Then we started talking to people, and met some cool guys to hang out with and exchange stories for a while. Then we're being introduced to some others. Next thing we know, we're in the middle of a pub crawl with the surf group these guys had joined. Two Red Bull Vodkas for the price of one... after getting the first two for free?!! Tres dangerous! Well, most especially for me. Ted actually maintained good behavior of course, but I can't claim the same. Also, I love this ice kissing game the girls play at midnight!

Anyway, we had a blast, but it has taken me the entire day to recover. We had hoped to take surfing lessons today, but as you can see from the first photo, it is not as sunny beautiful as the day we arrived. It's probably 70 degrees and mostly overcast today. Kinda cold, really. The town is great, lots of shops, eateries, walkways, joggers, bars, etc. Tons to do and probably becoming less of a secret. We have bumped into lots of people that have come from San Fermin festival as well.

We leave on a bus to Pamplona in about two hours and will arrive there around 7 pm to meet up with the rest of the crew. I can't believe that the vacation and adventure really just begins tonight!!

I received an email from Keith and it looks like he has booked us at least one adventure for Switzerland. We're going to hang glide over the Alps! I gotta admit, that one makes me nearly as nervous as 1/2 ton bulls with pierced and bloodied horns charging me. Nonetheless, let's hope the weather holds for both events. Wish us luck. The next few days will likely be a blur. I will try my best to maintain the blog during this time.
