Final Life List Item?

So, here I am, many years later and finally checking off the final item on the original Life List. Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Going with some great friends to have a killer time in February. Somehow, it feels like I'm coasting through this last one on fumes. It's been a great ride. Of course, once finished, there's new list to start completing!

Busy Times

Yes, I know, I haven't updated this all summer. Some great music festivals and photos and yet, no update. I'll get on it so the two people who check this can see what I have to say about new indie bands and the like. Sorry...

Sasquatch

Heading to Seattle tonight to hang out in the city, then attend the Sasquatch Music Festival. I will probably also be going on a strenuous 13 mile hike. Nice relaxing and varied vacation. Oh yeah. I will try to update the blog, but likely won't have many options while I am gone. Also, I just found out that I can't take my D90, so I will have to rely on my older T100 for a variety of pics and vids. Hopefully, when I return, I can clean up my digital identity and various sites as well. (I get weird about things, but for instance, I have a YouTube page. Well two. /WebMooreVid and /WebMooreVids. It just makes sense to move everything over to the Vids site because, well, I have posted more than one video. HA!

Anyway, enjoy Memorial Day Weekend. I'm doing my part to help the economy.

I will try to grab some interesting experiences and captures.

Life is good, eh?!

Easter Updates

First, happy Easter to everyone! I really haven't updated the blog in some time. I think it's because I loved randomly checking back here and gazing at the brown eyes from the previous post. Nice.

Or, could be that I've been super busy with work. And still not getting enough done. In any case, I'm getting really excited about the Sasquatch Music Festival, Seattle and some killer hiking. More on all that to come.

For now, best wishes to everyone. Always.

Architecture - Housing

Click the image above for a story and photo spread about the Melfi House in Los Angeles designed by architect Steven Shortridge. John Melfi was a producer for the famous "Sex in the City" television show.

Who Is Happiest?

According at a recent article by the Associated Press and reprinted on Yahoo.com, citizens from Utah, Hawaii and Wyoming are among the happiest in the nation.

As I read through the article, I tried to understand what these areas had in common. Not much. Except that each area has its own unique outdoor beauty. I think that's the lesson.

Museum Photography

What you see here is an interesting series by Joseph O. Holmes. No, he's not related to someone else you may know by that name. I know some of you pervs thought about him. No, Joseph O. Holmes is a photographer with an interesting style. The pic above takes you to a nicely demonstrated portfolio where he observes and takes pics of people at the American Museum of Natural History. The pics are beautiful and were taken with a very consumer level Nikon D70.

Chocolate & Cheese

Ever notice how everything can be improved by either chocolate or cheese? If it's salty, add some cheese and it's even better! Breadsticks, pretzels, chips, everything. If it is sweet, add some chocolate and it's better. Chocolate and Cheese: they're like the yin-yang of food items.

Fortune Cookie

So I went to a Chinese restaurant the other day and I chose my fortune. I can't recall with whom I attended, but there were a couple of us. Here is the thing that is funny. Say you are inclined to believe in these things. Say you go to a restaurant with another person. The server gives you two fortune cookies. If you are the first to grab a fortune, have you just set the fate for your guest?

In any case, I went the other day and I got a crap fortune (see photo). I hate when they give you these feel good fortune cookies instead of something more interesting or profound. And, we all know, I'm really not wonderful! Seriously. This reminds me of that Saturday Night Live skit. You know what I'm talking about.

I've always wanted to create ones that said something more mischievous, such as "That wasn't chicken!"

Falling Water

Fallingwater
from Cristóbal Vila on Vimeo.

This is a great video of one of the world's greatest architects, Frank Lloyd Wright. It's also a wonderful example of 3D animated modeling. I can't imagine the time involved to pull this off.

I have never been to his home or works in Wisconsin. I have seen some of his work throughout the Midwest, especially Chicago. I was also lucky enough to visit his home (now also museum and school) in Phoenix during a work conference a while back. Picked up a nice Acme Pen as well. This is a fun video for any fan of FLW. If you're not a fan, you should be! He's an organic and amazing artist.

Timelapse

This is a cool photo I found on the Internet. Click on the photo and it takes you to an interesting page. Place your cursor on the far left side of the pic and then slowly drag it to the right side of the picture. Really cool little trick. Fun photography and Flash programming in a cool cityscape.

50 People...

Fifty People, One Question: London from Fifty People, One Question on Vimeo.

I wanted to take a brief moment to present another video in the "50 People, One Question" series. (This is a reblog, so click the links.) I posted this today in honor of a family friend that resides in Great Britain. Actually, they are from Great Britain, but I'm not sure exactly where they currently live. The father worked for Shell and they have lived all over the world. They have sons near the age of my brother and me that also are well traveled. I visited the family during my first trip to England many years ago. A family that my mother had made contact and friends with many years prior, during the times of pen pals. I stayed with part of the family in Great Yarmouth, an interesting little tourist town on the southeast coast.

In any case, one of the family members passed away about a week ago. This video is set in London and for some reason, it just took me back. I love the first guy's answer. He thinks it isn't creative, "I've got a shit answer" is how he starts out...

It's also an interesting question, really. "If you could wake up anywhere tomorrow, where would it be?" I'm not sure about my answer. Probably somewhere new. But with whom? Today, perhaps I would say New York City. In honor of that choice, another video in the series...

Creativity

I've been finding some cool things on the Web recently...

Almeria 2008 from Vicente Sahuc on Vimeo.

...which I find interesting because I thought I had stumbled upon the last page of the Internet a while back...

Hmmm, I leave you with this last parting thought in Hindi (which you will find I will be speaking more often on here. Because I can.)

Slumdog - Where Do You Live?

Photo courtesy of Joel Newell. All rights reserved.

Check out the picture above. It's of the slums in Mumbai. Crazy, but this is how some people live. (The link from the previous sentence is an incredible site.)

Also, you should really watch Slumdog Millionaire. I implored my friends on FB to watch it many months ago before it (finally) started to get good press. Call me a helpless romantic or a sap, but I think it's a beautiful film. Sure, it didn't hurt that the female lead is gorgeous, but the cinematography is stunning, the pictures moving and disturbing. It's a must see. It's the one movie this year that may bother and excite you. Allow you to see everything good and bad in the world. Yet still come away with the feeling of love and hope.

Watch the movie. Be inspired.

Can't be Blogged

As I determine what I'm doing with this blog, and perhaps in general, I haven't written for quite some time. I've also closed the blog temporarily during this time. I will open it back up shortly as I explore life a little more...

New Job. New Stuff.

So, here I am. Finally a new job. More responsibility. Leaving some friends behind and gaining others. Although, I'm really only about 15 miles up the road. It is a different world. I'm looking forward to the new challenges. I have some great team members and once again I'm blessed with a great boss.

Life is good.
